Bozo Fish Puppet
31"W x 6"D x 12"H - Africa - Wood
An exquisite hand crafted wooden fish carving from the Bozo people from Mali. The Bozo people are mostly fishermen inhabiting the Niger river banks and who have managed to keep alive their wonderful and rich traditions. There are annual festivals where pieces like this one are used as sort of puppets to show the community its own history and share their values to the youngest one. All the Bozo puppet performances are accompanied by music, both sung and instrumental. The custom metal bases highlights the beauty and prominence of these works of art!
