Among the Namchi people of Cameroon, the fertility doll becomes a surrogate baby for a woman who was having difficulty conceiving. The woman treats the figure like a baby, feeding it and carrying it on her back. This Namji fertility doll made from wood is shown wearing strands of yellow, ivory and blue beads. It features additional pendants and amulets made from leather and metal. It has been placed on a custom iron stand.
