These Sal wood benches are specifically imported for Berbere. No two are alike as they are crafted from 200+-year-old Indian factory floor timbers. Those timbers were cut from 100+-year-old trees grown wildly in the forests of India and Nepal. Among the toughest timbers available, Sal wood is highly resinous with a complex and coarse grain. It is naturally light-colored but will turn dark with constant exposure to sunlight. They are heavy, solid heirloom-quality pieces.
